While we believe it’s necessary to agitate at the national level for these changes, we also understand that systemic change often begins at the roots–in this case, within our councils and locals. As Angela Davis once said, “Radical simply means ‘grasping things at the root.'”
That’s why we’ve created these toolkits to help AFSCME members organize for a cop-free union in their own communities, so that we can build a base to help us fight for change at the national level.
